The Hopewell Native American people, who lived on the banks of the Ohio River around AD 200-550. They buried their dead under huge heaps of earth, and created massive earth-mound sculptures, to honor their gods. The biggest, Great Serpent Mound, is about 1330 ft (400 meters) long.
