Giant eagles, such as the monkey-eating eagle of the Philippines and the South American harpy eagle, live high up in the tops of the emergent trees. They swoop through the canopy on the look-out for monkeys to eat. The eagles build huge twig platforms in the treetops, where they lay their eggs. They use the same nest year after year.
