Why should you steer clear of a skunk doing a handstand?
In North American deserts, skunks defend themselves by spraying foul-smelling liquid at their enemies. The stinking fluid comes from scent glands under the animal's tail, so it does a handstand to aim at victims. Wise intruders back away quickly before the skunk has the chance to strike. Enemies do well to get out of range as quickly as possible.
