Yes. Scientists have found fossilized remains of several small mammals that died out many centuries ago, such as the macaca (monkey-like) and the leithia (a dormouse-like animal). Unfortunately many more small mammals may die out because of the destruction of their habitat - particularly animals that live in the rainforests, which are being destroyed by large-scale farming.
