Why do reptiles change color?
Reptiles, particularly lizards, can change their colors for many reasons. They tend to be more intensely colored In bright light, and paler in dull light. Often this helps to camouflage the animal. The lizard may also change color when angry, or frightened, as changes in color can make it look bigger or fiercer. The most striking color changes are in courtship displays, when male lizards confront mates or rivals.
