The oldest known plant is probably the creosote bush of the Mojave Desert in California, USA. Some of these bushes are thought to be 11,700 years old. The bristlecone pine, which grows mainly in the southwestern USA, notably in the White Mountains of California, is also very long-lived. The oldest is about 4,600 years old.
