The Tasmanian devil is the largest of the carnivores, or flesh-eating marsupials. It is about 36 in (90 cm) long, including its tail, and has sharp teeth and strong jaws. The devil feeds mostly on carrion-the flesh of animals that are already dead-but it does also kill prey such as sheep and birds.
