Yes, monk seals, which live in the Caribbean, Mediterranean, and Hawaiian seas, are extremely rare. The Caribbean seal is probably already extinct. These are the only seals that live in warm seas, closer to human activity than other seals, so they have suffered greater habitat disturbance.
