There are about 45 species of gull. They live in all parts of the world, but there are more species north of the equator. Gulls range in size from the little gull, which is only II in (28 cm) long, to the great black-backed gull, a huge 26 in (65 cm) long. Many gulls find food inland as well as at sea and some even scavenge in towns and cities.
