An eagle kills with the four long curved claws on each of its feet. It drops down on to the victim, seizes it in its long talons and crushes it to death. The eagle then tears the flesh apart with its strong hooked beak. The hook of a golden eagle's beak is as much as 4 in (10 cm) long.
