What bird is like a helicopter?
Hummingbirds feed on nectar, found deep inside rainforest flowers in South America. To reach its food, a hummingbird hovers in front of a flower, like a tiny helicopter. It has to beat its wings up to 20 times a second, so quickly that they make a humming sound. Then the bird probes into the flower with its long, thin bill and laps up the nectar, with its tube-like tongue. A hummingbird can also fly forward and backward, and up and down.
